The Finance Committee is in charge of finding money to fund projects around the church. The plan events like fund-raisers, and benefits for the things that need to be done to keep the church up and running, as well as make it an enjoyable place to worship. They are also in charge of counting the money collected after services. Most recently, the Finance Committee paid for the new windows throughout the church by putting up a poster, and asking congregation members to sponsor a window. The group usually meets four to six times a year. Contact Person: Dee Hartley HRBDee@huronohio.com The Stewardship Committee is a new committee whose purpose is to promote Stewardship in our church. The main event we plan is the Annual Stewardship Program currently known as Consecration Sunday on October 16th 2005. The committee looks forward to encouraging our congregation to be cheerful givers of their time talents and assets. They welcome anyone to join us in this mission. Contact Person: Terry Wiseman The Trustees are responsible for the upkeep and use of the church property. They are also responsible for major purchases and capital improvements. The Trustees are the official legal body of the church. They are divided into three-year classes, one-third of whom must be women. The Trustees meet every first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. Contact Person: Buz Bronner Staff-Parish Relations Committee This
group is responsible for strengthening the relations between staff
members and the congregation, for evaluating staff and hiring new
persons for open positions. They
interview new pastors and set the salary for all staff
members. SPRC is responsible for
creating and maintaining the Church Profile, meeting at least quarterly
and once with the District Superintendent. Contact Person: Margaret Barbour Formerly known as the Nominating Committee, this team is responsible for the nomination of persons to the charge conference for positions in the church. Nurture Committee plans and executes a variety of social activities and
fellowship programs in the life of the church.
It meets five to seven times a year and all members
are involved with planning. Contact Person: Carol O'Reilly As the name implies the Altar Guild is the group that is in charge of taking care of the altar. This includes all of the communion-ware, candles, and paraments. This very active, but very quiet group takes care of ordering, and dedicating the chancel flowers for Easter and Christmas, as well as setting up for communion. Once a year they gather for a cleaning of all the brass in the sanctuary. Contact Person: Nancey Meyer
This group coordinates giving to local, national, and international causes. The group also coordinates volunteer hands-on mission involvement locally. Contact Person: Sandy Stierhoff Membership & Outreach Ministry Team This group will assist the Membership Secretary and Church Administrative Secretary. They will invite inactive members to return and recommend removal of non-responsive inactive members. This group will develop systems for reaching out to the community, inviting persons to fellowship and worship, welcoming visitors, organizing new member classes, and assimilation into meaningful ministries. Contact Person: Bonnie Lindsley Christian Education Ministry Support Team Sunday School, mid-week Bible study, and the Logos Program (Wednesday after school) are always seeking teachers and volunteers to help show children and adults the love and grace of our Lord. This group assists the Director of Christian Education/Logos Director. Contact Person:Heather Hardy The LOGOS Support Team consists of the LOGOS Program directors, the pastor, and other representatives from various areas of the program. Among the team's responsibilities are identifying and calling people to staff the program, setting schedules and policy, responding to problems and concern, and evaluating and praying for the program, staff, and children in the program.Contact Person: Sally Warner Praise & Worship Ministry Team This group is comprised of representatives of task groups associated with worship, plus others who help the Pastor and Music Director to keep worship experiences alive and fresh, creative and contemporary. Contact Person: Ron Brooker This is a great ministry for anyone who is home most of their time. Prayers are started by the pastor in the church office, and telephoned along four channels of "pray-ers". In a time of surgery, illness, emergency, accident, etc. the power of many people holding you up in prayer can be overwhelming. Please call to join the Prayer Chain. Contact Person: Jackie Wheland Formerly known as Stephen Ministries, Christ Connections is a group of trained lay persons who help nurture and minister those in the congregation needing some Christian love and care. They visit homebound, nursing homes, and special needs in coordination with the pastor. Contact Person: Alverda Sterling The Share-A-Meal volunteers are on-call to prepare and deliver a meal to someone just coming home from the hospital, recuperating at home etc. Or anyone in need of a little love in support. Contact Person: Carolyn Wiseman These volunteers are on-call to prepare a dish and/or help serve a lunch on the occasion of a funeral. This meal is a great comfort to family and friends during their time of grief. Please call to join or help. Contact Person: Jackie Wheeland, or Lori Bower The Senior Luncheon Group meets in the Fellowship Hall on the third Thursday of the month at 11:30 A.M. Various interesting programs are offered with social time, and a nutritious meal catered by Janet Majoy. The cost is $6.00 Contact Person: Judi Graham Meets each wednesday morning at 6:15 am for breakfast, devotion, and prayer. All are welcome. Contact Person: Bruce Rookstool Meets
on the second and fourth tuesday mornings of each month at 9:30 am for
devotions and prayers. They also sponsor a mother and child play group
on the first tuesday morning of each month at the same time, as well as
several dinners and programs throughout the year.
Contact Person: Diane Timple The Emmaus Group is based on the Walk to Emmaus and consists exclusively of people who have been on the walk. The group focuses on getting more people to go on the walk, and keeping people involved with the Emmaus community, as well as sponsoring people who may be interested. They usually meet on the second Friday of every month. A meeting usually consists of a lot of praying, sharing, and devotions.
